Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is well known for crafting gorgeous smartphones with high-end specifications at affordable prices. It has become one of the most popular smartphone makers in the world, with a smartphone user base of more than 100 million units.

How many times have you looked around a room and wondered whether someone was looking at you. This may have happened to you when you were meeting a new acquaintance, a date, or a friend. Maybe you’ve wanted to be able to do a quick check on someone walking toward you at a party or meeting.

Ever wondered what your heart rate is at the moment? Well, you don’t have to rely on a pulse oximeter or a medical wristband to find out now. Xiaomi may soon introduce a feature that lets users check their heart rate just by pressing the camera button on their phone, as per the latest information we have.

Last year, Xiaomi launched the Health app for all major Mi devices. Soon after its launch, the app caught the attention of customers and is now a major source of information on health-related factors, such as daily steps, heart rate, exercise goals, body mass index and other health parameters.

An updated version of the previously released health app now uses your phone’s camera to measure your heart rate.

Version V2.7.4 of the Mi Health app measures heart rate only with the camera and in no other way. This means that no additional software, hardware or sensors are required to use it.

Using the new feature in the Mi Health app is very simple. According to the update from XDA-Developers, all you have to do is put your index finger on the lens of the camera. Once the shape is placed over the target, wait for the progress bar to appear. When it reaches 100%, remove it. The app shows you full reports by capturing your heart rate with the camera lens.

When the heart rate measurement is complete, you can select your current physical condition. For example, whether the test was performed after exercise, at rest, or under general conditions. Your phone makes a mini-report with your heart rate. What if you could use your phone to monitor your heart rate around the clock without needing medical equipment? That’s what Xiaomi is trying to achieve with their latest technology, which uses the phone’s camera to analyze your heart rate when your face is in front of the device, and then sends the data to your phone..
