After a disappointing Masters Tournament for Tiger Woods, his wife Erica is getting some of the blame. But her husband says she doesn’t care about it and has been through this before.

Scottie Scheffler’s wife “Meredith Scudder” has said that she doesn’t care about the Masters champ smashing a record previously held by Tiger Woods.

“I don’t believe I’m ready for this,” Scottie Scheffler is a character in the film Scottie Scheffler told his wife, Meredith, before of his Sunday round at The Masters. But, as the world saw at Augusta National, the 25-year-old was undeniably talented. With the exception of those final two putts, that is. However, such is the luxury of having a large lead.

On Sunday, Scheffler played the precise round of golf he needed to win his first major tournament and his fourth win in six tries, which is incredible. Despite a four-putt for a double-bogey six on the par-4 18th, the Texan scored a 1-under round of 71 to finish at 10-under for the tournament, three strokes ahead of Rory McIlroy, who finished with an incredible 8-under 64.

While McIlroy’s rise to the top of the leaderboard had some hoping for a Scheffler collapse to add to the Masters Sunday drama, it never happened. Outside of the shaky four-putt at the end, the world’s top-ranked golfer kept inside himself and demonstrated why he is ranked No. 1, a position Meredith allegedly “doesn’t care” about in the least.

Scheffler has had a long and winding road to the top of the golf world. Scheffler and Meredith have been together for eight years – they were high school sweethearts — and she’s been at his side throughout his professional career.

When the former US Junior Amateur champion went pro in 2018, she was at his side. She was at his side for his two wins on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2019, earning him Player of the Year accolades and full-time PGA Tour credentials. And she was at his side when he was named PGA Tour Rookie of the Year in 2020, the same year they married and he made his maiden appearance in the top 50 of the Official World Golf Ranking.

In 2021, she stood at his side as he placed in the top 20 of all four major events and came near to winning his first PGA Tour title. And she was there with him in Phoenix only eight weeks ago when he got his first victory. The second came three weeks later at Bay Hill, and the third came three weeks later at the WGC-Match Play, the triumph that sent Scheffler to the top of the global rankings.

Scheffler reached world No. 1 only 42 days after his first PGA Tour win, easily the fastest time in history, eclipsing Tiger Woods’ previous record. Following his first victory at the 1996 Las Vegas Invitational, Tiger needed 252 days to achieve the top place.

Meredith, on the other hand, told Sky Sports that she couldn’t care less about him becoming the best player in the world, and that she didn’t even realize it was a possibility until it happened.

“She had no clue,” says the narrator. I told her that because I want her to be able to have these experiences with me, and she plainly doesn’t care where I rank in the world.

“She has the opportunity to witness how hard I work.” She’s seen my failures throughout time, as well as the anguish that comes with attempting to accomplish something and failing.”

On Sunday, shortly after Scottie informed Meredith that he wasn’t sure whether he was ready for his big moment at The Masters, she simply assured him that she loved him regardless of whether he won the green jacket or lost by 10 strokes. And when the former occurred a few hours later, she was naturally at his side to enjoy the occasion.

The beauty of unconditional love, oh, the beauty of unconditional love.
