If you want to maximize the hardware capabilities of your LG Stylo 3 Plus, you’ll need to root it and install a custom recovery like TWRP. In terms of customization, stock ROMs often have restricted and unsupported capabilities. You may install any Custom ROMs, Mods, Kernel, and Xposed, as well as many applications that need root access to run correctly, after you’ve rooted your smartphone and installed TWRP recovery. With One Click Android Root Tool, you can simply root your smartphone using either a PC or an APK, which is a rapid procedure.
TWRP Recovery: A Quick Overview and Benefits
TWRP (Team Win Recovery Project) is a community-driven open source project. TWRP allows you to install any custom firmware, root your phone, use mod zip files for modifications, use Xposed Modules for customizable functionality, and perform one-click root and unroot operations. Aside from that, it enables you to create a Full Nandroid Backup and restore it later, flash image files with a single click, remove bloatware, and overclock and underclock. After flashing any image file, TWRP can simply wipe Wipe, Cache, and Data to reflect the changes and correct minor cache issues.
Your LG Stylo 3 Plus phone must have an unlocked bootloader in order to install TWRP. That implies you must first unlock the bootloader before rooting and customizing your smartphone.
Always double-check your model number, which should be:
- T-MObile (TP450), LG Stylo 3 Plus LGM470, and MetroPCS (MP450)
You must confirm that you have read the disclaimer properly and agree to continue at your own risk before rooting your phone.
Your phone must be at least 70% charged when testing; else, it may cause issues. Why take a chance when you can completely charge it?
It is a good practice to create a backup of your phone if you are about to root it or install a Custom ROM. Make a cloud backup of all your data, including photographs, videos, and documents, as well as your contacts.
(Applicable solely to the PC approach; if using the APK method, skip this step.)
By navigating to Settings, Applications, and Developer settings, you must enable USB debugging.

Steps to Unlock Bootloader of T-MObile (TP450), LG Stylo 3 Plus LGM470, and MetroPCS (MP450)
Note: If your bootloader has previously been unlocked, you may skip these instructions.
Step 1: Turn on your PC and connect your LG Stylo 3 Plus device in Fastboot Mode. Using the adb console, you may reboot your device to fastboot:
adb bootloader reboot
Step 2: Now open the Adb Terminal on your PC and type the following command:
oem unlock-go fastboot
Step 3: Execute the following command:
oem unlock-go fastboot
Your device will reboot automatically at this point. Because the bootloader of your LG Stylo 3 Plus has already been unlocked, you may now root it.
Steps to Flash/ Install TWRP on T-MObile (TP450), LG Stylo 3 Plus LGM470, and MetroPCS (MP450)
Step 1: Assume you’ve previously downloaded the Android SDK (SDK Manager) platform-tools to your PC. The requisite adb and fastboot binaries are found in platform-tools.
Step 2: Verify that your computer’s drivers are up to date. Then go to the next step.
Note: If you already have Developer Settings and USB Debugging enabled on your device, as advised in the Prerequisite section, skip Steps 3 and 4 and go straight to Step 5.
Step 3: Now, enable the developer settings on your LG Stylo 3 Plus Device. To achieve the same, just navigate to the Settings -> About and then find the ‘Build Number ‘, and then tap on ‘Build Number’ for 7 times, this will enable the developer settings on your device.
Step 4: If you’ve previously installed USB Debugging, you may skip this step. If you haven’t already done so, go to Developer Options and activate USB debugging.
Step 5: Open the command prompt on your computer/ADB Terminal and enter the following command:
adb bootloader reboot
Step 6: Make sure your device is not in fastboot mode. Now, copy the TWRP.img file from the prerequisites section to the same folder as the adb and fastboot binaries. After renaming the file to ‘twrp.img,’ run the following command:
twrp.img fastboot flash recovery
Step 6: The TWRP flash procedure usually takes a few seconds to finish. Disconnect the USB cord after the flashing is finished. Remove the device’s battery and avoid re-inserting it to turn it off.
Step 7: It’s time to start the rehabilitation process for the first time. Hold the Volume Down+Power buttons together until the LG logo shows on the screen, then release the POWER button and press it again until a white prompt comes on the screen, which is the Factory reset screen.
IMPORTANT: During this procedure, never let go of the VOLUME DOWN button.
To boot into TWRP recovery mode, press the hard keys to choose ‘Yes’ and then ‘Yes’ again.
NOTE: After the TWRP flash screen appears, you will be prompted to provide a password to unlock the filesystem; just ignore this and push the cancel button.
Procedure to Root T-MObile (TP450), LG Stylo 3 Plus LGM470, and MetroPCS (MP450)/ Install SuperSU
Make sure you have SuperSU installed (link in pre-requisite section of this article). Then go through the instructions.
Step 1: In TWRP interface, navigate to Wipe>Format Data. There, just enter ‘yes‘, in the text box and then press enter. This will wipe the automatically encrypted filesystem, and decrypt it. Step 2: Once the TWRP finishes the wiping, you must reboot back into the recovery. For doing the same, just navigate to the Reboot>Recovery. Step 3: Now, recovery should boot. After recovery is booted, connect the phone to the computer, and then Enable ‘MTP’, which is located under the Mount section.
Step 4: Save ‘no-verity-opt-encrypt-**.zip’ and ‘SuperSU.zip’ to the device’s internal storage or EXTSD.
Disconnect the device from the PC in step 5. Then choose Install. then choose the ‘no-verity-opt-encrypt-**.zip’ from the device’s storage. Finally, swipe the ‘Swipe to confirm flash’ button at the bottom of the screen to confirm the flash.
Step 6: The flashing procedure just takes a few seconds. Once that’s done, flash the root package, which is SuperSU, using the same technique. After the zip files have been flashed, just wait 1-2 minutes before rebooting the device. Be careful that after flashing recovery, the phone may take 3-5 minutes to start for the first time and may boot-loop once or twice at the splash screen. Don’t be alarmed; it’s very natural. That’s all there is to it.
Congratulations, now you have rooted T-MObile (TP450), LG Stylo 3 Plus LGM470, and MetroPCS (MP450) and also flashed the TWRP. Now, you can install Xposed Framework, and customize your smartphone as per your preference. If you wish to verify, you may download and check the Root Status through Root Checker app.
