The upcoming OPPO Watch 2 will be the company’s most significant wearable device yet, and it’s all because of a change in direction that could bring the device much closer to perfection. OPPO’s recent upgrade to its front-facing camera means the Watch 2 will be one of the first smartwatches on the market to support Google’s new “AI-assisted” voice assistant, and the second Android Wear watch to support NFC payments.

OPPO is struggling to sell its phones in the US with its current hardware. The Chinese company is looking to get a boost in sales with the launch of its line of hardware in the US. In a recent interview with a popular tech blog, OPPO’s Product Director, Wang Yuxin, said the Watch 2 will feature a new stylus feature that will allow the device to be used like a pen.

After months of waiting, the OPPO Watch 2 is finally on sale and we’ve got more details on what’s available now. OPPO did a great job with the Watch 2 from a design standpoint. This wearable runs on the Android Wear platform and has an all-metal body that’s wrapped in a round screen. The Watch 2 has a square screen with a 320 x 320 pixel resolution, a 1.4GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, and a 370 mAh battery. It runs on Android Wear and features a heart rate sensor, pedometer, and other fitness apps.

Last year, OPPO launched its OPPO Watch smartwatch, which received positive reviews and was touted as a competitor to Samsung’s smartwatch in the Android space. The device was officially released with the Snapdragon Wear 3100 and offered average performance. Now it looks like its successor, the OPPO Watch 2, will get a much-needed hardware upgrade for better performance. According to a chart published by XDA Developers, details about the upcoming OPPO Watch 2 have been revealed via firmware files.

According to the report, the OPPO Watch 2 will run on the Snapdragon Wear 4100 platform, which is listed as msm8937_32go in the build properties file. In all likelihood, the smartwatch will run on a new version of WearOS, which Google has developed in collaboration with Samsung. The original OPPO Watch had 8GB of internal storage. Now, thanks to the build properties file, it has been revealed that the Watch 2 will feature 16GB of internal storage. The report also states that the smartwatch will have features like new watch interfaces and stress detection. It also comes with the new OPPO Relax application. According to the rumors, the OPPO Watch 2 will have the same square watch face as its predecessor. The device reportedly has e-SIM support for LTE connectivity. OPPO is also reportedly working on a smartwatch called the OPPO Watch Free. It is not yet known whether the Watch Free and the OPPO Watch are the same device or two different watches. However, it’s likely that more information about the OPPO Watch 2 will surface as we get closer to the launch. word-image-12728
