As the former heavyweight champion of the world, Mike Tyson has a reputation for being one of the most fearsome, and feared, athletes of all time. Tyson became the youngest boxer to win the WBC, WBA and IBF world heavyweight titles at 20 years, 4 months and 22 days old when he defeated Trevor Berbick in 1986. But as the years have gone by, Tyson has become one of the most inspiring and motivational public speakers, speaking out on a number of issues from his personal life and the pitfalls of fame.

When Tyson was 16, his mother died. Tyson’s mother raised him alone after the man Tyson thought was his father, Jimmy Kirkpatrick, abandoned Tyson’s family. When Tyson’s mother died, D’Amato took care of Tyson and became his legal guardian. D’Amato helped Tyson become a boxer who, at the age of 20, became the youngest heavyweight boxer of all time. Tyson became the most dangerous boxer of his time and ended his professional career with a record of 50-6 and 44 knockouts.
