You may have heard of the old addons for Kodi and XBMC, well now you have a new addon in the form of Mercury, a media center addon for Kodi and Firestick. This addon can do a lot of tricks, such as integrate into Kodi, allowing for the playback of videos through the Kodi media center, but that’s not all. This can also be used to download and install additional repositories, addons, and themes, and even integrate with other addons, such as Exodus.

What is Kodi? Kodi is a free and open source media player which allows you to play videos, music and podcasts from various sources and hardware devices like Xbox 360, PS4, Xbox One, Android Phones, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Mac book, Laptop and all other devices. Kodi is available for Windows, Linux, Android, Mac OS, iOS and many other operating systems. Kodi is being used in many countries to access their TV channels in the International markets.

In this article you will find instructions on how to install the Mercury addon on Kodi. This addon works on Fire Stick 4K, FireStick 2nd Gen, Fire TV Cube, Android phones and tablets, Windows and Mac computers and laptops, and other Kodi compatible platforms.

Mercury is an on-demand add-on for Kodi from the DejaVu repository. It has an extensive collection of movies, TV series, documentaries and various extras like jukebox, online radio, documentaries etc.

Update: This addon is no longer available. Try other Kodi addons from our list.

Since the content library is updated regularly, you can always find something new to check out. You can also consult documents from previous years. Overall, Mercury is a solid add-on for Kodi that is worth a try.

To install the Mercury addon on Kodi

We will split this guide into two parts to make it more understandable. Here’s what we’ll do:

– Part 1: Allow unknown sources in Kodi security settings (requirements)
– Part 2 Installing the Kodi Mercury Addon

Attention KODI users: please read before continuing

Kodi addons / modules offer unlimited streaming content, but can also get you in legal trouble if you get caught watching movies / TV shows / sports for free. Kodi users are strongly advised to always connect a VPN when streaming online. A good Kodi VPN can hide your identity, bypass government surveillance, block content, and ISP throttling (which also contributes to buffer-free streaming).

I use ExpressVPN, which is the fastest and most secure VPN. It is very easy to install on any device, including the Amazon FireStick. Get 3 months free and save 49% on annual plans. There is also a 30 day money back guarantee. If you are not satisfied, you can always ask for a refund.

Part 1: Unknown sources (required)

The reason I say this part is a requirement is because you can’t install the Kodi Mercury addon if you don’t care for it. Kodi’s security settings do not allow the installation of third-party add-ons. This setting can be bypassed, and here’s how:

1 : After opening Kodi, you should see the following main window. If you go to the top left corner of this window, you will find the image of a cogwheel just below the Kodi magazine

Click on this symbol to open the settings

2 : When you get to the Settings menu, open System on your Kodi 18.1 – Kodi 18.9 Leia
If you have Kodi 17.6, select System Settings.

3 : We now find a number of options in the left menu. Here we select the add-ons

4 : Some new options will appear on the right side of the same window.

Unknown sources should be included. When it is off, pull the switch to the right.

5 : Kodi will ask you for permission before enabling the Unknown Sources feature. Press Yes.

Remember, the Mercury addon is safe. I personally used it

You are now ready to install the Mercury addon on Kodi.

Part 2: Install the Kodi Mercury addon

Here are the steps:

1 : Return to the main Kodi application window and reopen the settings.

2 : Then select the File Management option

3 : This takes us to the next screen, where we click the Add Source button.

Message: You can click the Add Source button anywhere on the screen.

4 : When you click the Add Source button, the following window appears. Go to the front and click on the place where you want <No>.

5 : This window specifies the source URL https://dejavurepo.github.io.

Update: This add-on may not be available at this time. Try other Kodi addons from our list.

Use the on-screen keyboard to enter this path

Check the path once after you enter it to make sure it is correct.

Press OK.

6 : Now we need to name the resource we added. I will use the name DV for this manual.

However, you can choose any other name you want.

Since you will need to retrieve this name later, make sure it is identifiable.

Press OK.

7 : Return to the Kodi launcher window by pressing the Back button several times.

With Kodi 18 Leia we click again on settings

In Kodi 17.6, we need to click on the Add-ons button in the left panel (not shown in the image below).

8 : Now select Add-ons in Kodi 18 in the following window

In Kodi 17.6, go to the top left corner and select an image that looks like an open box (hint in the image below)

9 : Open Install from the zip file on the following screen

10 : In this window, find the name of the resource you added earlier and click it.

It’s the Mercury of this manual

11 : Now click on the zip file named repository.DejaVu-x.x.zip

I replace the version number of the file with x.x.x because it may change when you perform these steps. The developers update their addons from time to time.

12 : Wait for the notification that the DejaVu Repo add-on is installed. You’ll see it for a minute or two in the upper right-hand corner.

13 : Now you can click on Install from repository.

14 : Now we click on the DejaVu repository that we installed a few minutes ago

15 : In the next group of options, click on Video Add-ons.

16 : You should now see the Mercury add-on in the list of other add-ons. Browse and click.

Update: This add-on may not be available at this time. Try other Kodi addons from our list.

17 : Click on Install when this window appears

18 : For Kodi 18 users, an additional pop-up window will appear. This pop-up window contains a list of all additional addons installed with the Kodi Mercury addon.

Just press OK

19 : During the installation you will probably see the following YouTube prompt

YouTube is one of the optional add-ons that install with Mercury. You don’t have to install it if you don’t want to.

Press NO

20 : After about a minute, you should see a notification that the Mercury add-on is installed.

Here is how to install the Mercury addon on Kodi.

To configure the Mercury addon on Kodi

I’m going to tell you a bit about the Mercury addon. But before we do that, we’ll configure it for better streaming quality.

You can access the Mercury addon from the Video Addons section in Kodi. You can find this section after clicking on Add-ons in the main window of Kodi. In fact, you can launch the addon directly from the main window. Just hover your mouse over the add-ons in the left pane.

Navigate to the Mercury addon icon and click on it to open it.

Scroll down to the main window and click on the Mercury toolbox.

This is where you can authorize the Real Debrid premium service or pair it with Openload.

At this point, we will select General Settings

The first thing we’re going to do is turn off the metadata. This speeds up navigation and browsing.

Click the Customize tab on the left. Now uncheck the Enable metadata option.

Press OK.

Open the general settings again and tap Scrapers on the left, then open Scrapers settings.

Click on the General tab on the left, and then on Enable All on the right.

Press OK.

That way, you are more likely to find more streams for the video content you want.

How to use the Kodi Mercury addon: Brief overview

As mentioned before, you can open the Kodi Mercury addon by going to Add-ons > Video Add-ons

Here is what the main window of the addon looks like

As you can see, there are many ways to find movies and series. Here are some of the most popular categories: New movie releases, top 50 new releases, one-click new releases, FHD new releases debauchery, etc.

Besides the latest movies and series, you can also watch old movies. For example, there is a category for the 250 best films of all time. The addon also has some additional features like Live in Concert, The Jukebox Online Radio, etc.

Before you start streaming video with Kodi addons or modules, I want to warn you that everything you stream on Kodi is visible to your ISP and the government. This means that streaming copyrighted content (free movies, TV shows, live broadcasts and sports) can lead to legal problems.

Fortunately, there is a reliable way to hide all your streaming activities from your ISP and the government. All you need is a good VPN for Kodi. A VPN masks your original IP address and helps you bypass Internet monitoring, ISP restrictions, and geographic content limitations.

Personally, I use and recommend ExpressVPN, the fastest and most secure VPN. It is compatible with all types of applications and streaming devices.

OPINION: We do not encourage copyright infringement. But what if you accidentally upload content from an illegal source? It is not always easy to distinguish between a legal and an illegal source.

So before you start streaming on Kodi, read here how to get VPN protection in 3 easy steps.

Step one: Purchase your ExpressVPN subscription HERE. It comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. This means you can use it for free for the first 30 days. If you are not satisfied with the service (which is unlikely), you can ask for a full refund.

Step two: Click HERE to download and install the ExpressVPN application on your streaming device. If you are using a FireStick, I have included the exact steps below, starting with step 4.

Step three: Click on the power icon to connect to the VPN server. That’s it. Now your connection is secure with the fastest and best VPN for Kodi.

The steps to install Kodi VPN on Fire TV devices are described below. If you have other broadcast devices, follow steps 1 to 3 above.

Step four: Sign up for ExpressVPN HERE (if you are not already a subscriber).

Step 5: Go to the Fire TV Stick home screen. Click the Search button and then the Search option (see figure below).

Step six: Type expressvpn into the search bar and select when it appears.

Seventh step: Click on the Download button.

Step 8: Open the ExpressVPN application and log in using the username and password you created when you purchased your ExpressVPN subscription.

Step 9: Click on the power icon to connect to the VPN server. That’s it. Now your FireStick is protected with the fastest VPN.

Pronunciation

The Kodi Mercury addon is a good option for those who want to watch movies and series regularly. However, it is not just about the latest developments. You can watch the best rated movies of all time. You will also find documentation and various additional materials.

The addon is relatively easy to install and also easy to use. You can speed up navigation by disabling metadata. He’s pulling a lot of good strings right now. However, it’s best to pair it with Real Debrid if you need high-quality streaming links.
