All die-hard golf fans remember Woods’ epic 2000/01 season, in which he won the first Tiger Slam in history. In 2000 Woods won the US Open at Pebble Beach by a record 15 strokes, in 2000 he beat Bob May in a playoff to win the PGA Championship at Valhalla, and in 2001 he beat David Duvall at the Masters to win his fourth consecutive major championship.
Amidst all this, Woods won the first Open Championship of his career at the Old Course in St Andrews, the birthplace of golf.
Tiger shot a 5-under 67 in the first round of the tournament and took the lead in the tournament one stroke behind Ernie Els. He then played a 6-under 66 in the second round and never looked back.
Woods shot another 67 in the third round and extended his lead to six strokes. He finished the tournament with a round of 69 to take a three-stroke lead over the rest of the field and eventually win by eight strokes.
It was a dominant round of golf, as fans have come to expect from the 24-year-old phenom.

Woods returned to action at the 2012 Royal Lytham Open. He entered the final round five strokes behind leader Adam Scott, but a score of 73, higher than 3, on Sunday jeopardized his chances of winning another Open Championship. He finished in third place.
In 2013, Tiger entered the final round at Muirfield just two strokes behind leader Lee Westwood, but an unusual 3-over 74 in the final round dropped him to sixth place.
