The Houston Texans are set to sign Deshaun Watson long-term. The quarterback has been impressive this season, leading the team with 19 touchdown passes and only six interceptions. This is despite missing three games due to injury setbacks.

The Houston Texans are set to keep Deshaun Watson past the NFL trade deadline, sources say. The Texans will allow Watson to play out the season and evaluate him as a free agent next year.

According to league sources, the Houston Texans are prepared to retain Deshaun Watson through Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline.

Despite the fact that many in the Texans’ organization want to put Watson behind them and move on as quickly as possible, league sources say the team is prepared to restart trade talks in the summer.

Texans general manager Nick Caserio has been adamant in his commitment to getting full value for Watson, and has so far refused to deal him for anything less than what he feels Watson is worth.

Cal McNair, the Texans’ owner, has privately expressed his desire for Watson to be traded before Tuesday’s 4 p.m. ET deadline, but has delegated the decision to Caserio.

According to insiders, the Texans and Miami Dolphins have discussed a trade at different times, with Miami in the driver’s seat due to Watson’s desire to play for Miami above everything else.

The Dolphins, on the other hand, would want to see Watson’s legal concerns fixed before negotiating a trade. Watson is facing 22 lawsuits and ten criminal reports claiming sexual harassment and improper behavior, while no charges have been filed and the quarterback has rejected the allegations.

Commissioner Roger Goodell said Tuesday that the league does not currently have enough information about the cases to make a judgment on possible sanctions, and that the information it does have is insufficient to put Watson on the commissioner’s exempt list.

The Texans’ trade talks with other clubs, most notably the Dolphins, have been hampered by Watson’s uncertain future.

According to insiders, the Dolphins are the only club for which Watson has renounced his no-trade clause. According to ESPN, Watson has not done the same for the Carolina Panthers or any other club.

However, the Panthers have been connected to Watson, 26, since last offseason, and some have even speculated on a potential package for the three-time Pro Bowl quarterback.

According to ESPN, Panthers head coach Matt Rhule and general manager Scott Fitterer both phoned Christian McCaffrey on Friday night to assure him that they never talked or even contemplated dealing him to Houston for Watson, despite reports to the contrary.

The Texans and Panthers’ talks never progressed because Watson refused to waive his no-trade clause for Carolina, which meant the team was never in a position to examine prospective trade situations the way it desired. With previous Panthers owner Jerry Richardson’s history of harassment, the Panthers were hesitant to negotiate a transaction unless they were completely happy with it.

The Dolphins look to be the only club that might try to make a trade before Tuesday’s deadline, but as of Sunday morning, there isn’t much likelihood of a deal being made. According to reports, there are compensation concerns, legal issues, and too much ambiguity for those participating in the negotiations to be confidence that an agreement will be reached in the next three days.

Tua Tagovailoa is Miami’s starting quarterback, according to head coach Brian Flores, and is projected to be for the rest of the season barring injury. The Texans will visit Miami on Sunday, Nov. 7, to face the Dolphins.

The “did deshaun watson get traded to the saints” is a question that has been asked for a while now. Sources say that the Houston Texans are set to keep Deshaun Watson past the NFL trade deadline.
