Although Austin Cindric has yet to race in the series, he is still listed as one of these favorites heading into the 2018 season. It’s a sign that this year could be his breakout year after early struggles last season.

Austin Cindric is a professional NASCAR driver. He is the current Xfinity Series points leader and has won two races in 2018.

On Saturday, November 6, the NASCAR Xfinity Series season will come to a close with a visit to Phoenix Raceway. Austin Cindric, Noah Gragson, Daniel Hemric, and AJ Allmendinger will compete for the championship trophy, although Cindric is expected to be the favorite heading into the weekend.

The reigning Xfinity Series champion is driving the No. 22 Team Penske Ford Mustang. On November 7, 2020, he won his first championship at Phoenix Raceway, and he returned to Victory Lane in the spring 2021 event at the one-mile circuit. Cindric will now have the chance to win his third consecutive tournament and claim his second crown.

Cindric has competed in every Xfinity Series trip to Phoenix, in addition to his triumphs. He’s made seven appearances at the circuit and has only finished outside of the top ten once, in the 2018 season when he finished 16th. Cindric has six top-10s, four top-fives, and two victories since his first race.

At Phoenix, the veteran has just three Xfinity Series starts.

AJ Allmendinger

At the Charlotte Roval, AJ Allmendinger made NASCAR history.

Despite the fact that Allmendinger, the driver of the No. 16 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet Camaro, had less Xfinity Series experience at Phoenix Raceway than his colleagues, he won the regular-season title after four victories. During his stint in the series, he has only made three starts at the one-mile track, but he has 19 starts in the Cup Series.

His most recent voyage landed him in sixth place. On March 13, Allmendinger competed in the Call 811 Before You Dig 200, starting fourth overall. During the race, he competed against Ty Gibbs, Brandon Brown, Riley Herbst, and Cindric, and finished in a strong overall place. He’ll now return to finish off the finest season of his career.

According to Bob Pockrass, Allmendinger commented after the October 30 race at Martinsville Speedway, “I didn’t believe anything like this would ever happen.” “I never thought I’d win this many races in the locations I’ve won them, much alone win another Cup race at Indy.” So far, everything has been a dream come true.

“And it didn’t impact how I felt about the season no matter what happened during the playoffs.” Of course, all you want is a shot at the end of the day. You’re looking for a chance to visit Phoenix.”

At Phoenix, the two final playoff drivers had runner-ups.

Daniel Hemric

Getty At Phoenix Raceway, Daniel Hemric has yet to win.

Due to their consistency across all types of tracks, Cindric and Allmendinger will approach championship weekend as the favorites to win the championship, but how will the other two drivers fare? Hemric and Gragson have both had excellent showings in Phoenix in the past, but neither has won.

Hemric’s Xfinity Series career began with solid performances at the one-mile track. For Richard Childress Racing, he has four top-10 results in a row, including a second-place finish behind Christopher Bell in 2018. His last four visits to Phoenix, two with JR Motorsports and one with Joe Gibbs Racing, have all ended in finishes outside the top 20.

During his Xfinity Series career, Gragson has made five appearances at Phoenix, all with JR Motorsports. With three top-10 finishes, he has an average finish of 13.8. His finest performance was a second-place finish behind Cindric in the 2020 championship race. Gragson’s most recent trip to Phoenix, though, was cut short after 67 laps due to engine problems.
