Los Angeles is one of the most popular places for All-Star and superstar athletes wishing to relocate. From gorgeous vistas and luxury to never-ending entertainment, the city has it everything for a high-profile athlete. The Lakers and Clippers, unsurprisingly, are two of the most well-known NBA clubs now based in Los Angeles.

However, the Los Angeles Lakers have always been the better club in NBA history, since they are tied for the most titles (17) with the Boston Celtics. Not to mention that the Lakers have produced some of the best players in NBA history, including Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal, Kareem-Abdul Jabbar, Jerry West, and Wilt Chamberlain. The Lakers’ all-time club would be one of the most dominating teams in NBA history.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Clippers have had recent success owing to the “Lob City” period with Chris Paul and Blake Griffin, as well as the current lineup of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. But, in a best-of-seven series, how would the all-time Clippers do against the all-time Lakers? The moment has come to find out.

Chris Paul vs. Magic Johnson

Against the smaller Chris Paul, Magic Johnson delivers better size and all-around talent in the ultimate point guard battle. Johnson will win any point guard duel since he is the best of all time, but it will not be easy.

Chris Paul is a fantastic attacking player who will put Magic on his skates at times while also creating chances for his teammates. The famous point guard is most successful when surrounded by other outstanding scorers and defenders, and he will be the team’s captain.

Paul George vs. Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bryant will be a force in the series because he is ecstatic about the prospect of leading the Lakers to victory. The Black Mamba’s finest performances are usually saved for the biggest games, and he’ll have a few critical moments during the series.

At the shooting guard position, Paul George is an excellent two-way player, and he’ll have his hands full trying to keep Kobe Bryant from taking over the series. PG13 is an excellent defender with length and quickness, so this clash will be fascinating to watch.

Kawhi Leonard vs. LeBron James

Magic Johnson will have to split ball-handling responsibilities with LeBron James, which will reduce the King’s stats and abilities marginally. But James will still be effective since he excels at a variety of tasks on the floor, as he will demonstrate in this thrilling series.

From guarding James to becoming one of the team’s go-to scorers, Kawhi Leonard will have a lot on his plate. Leonard is the Clippers’ finest defender, and he’ll be constantly switching onto Kobe and Magic at times.

Blake Griffin vs. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar isn’t a natural power forward, but he’ll be successful because he’ll be paired with Shaquille O’Neal to make a formidable twin-towers duo. When he’s in position down low, Kareem is unstoppable, and he’ll throw the Skyhook over Blake Griffin whenever he wants.

Blake loses out on stature and all-around skill to Kareem, but with Chris Paul leading the charge, he’ll be successful on the fast break. Blake will want to run throughout the series and will put up a strong showing in Game 2 since his speed and agility might pose problems for the Lakers.

Elton Brand vs. Shaquille O’Neal

There has never been a low-level response for Shaquille O’Neal, and this series will be no exception. Shaq is an unstoppable force, and Elton Brand will have a difficult time handling The Diesel down low. O’Neal will be the team’s leading scorer and have an outstanding series.

Elton Brand was a double-double machine in his peak and a brilliant offensive player, making him one of the most gifted players in Clippers history. Because he has to defend against a beast in the paint, Brand will have to play larger than he is.

Lakers Team Advantages

The all-time Lakers squad is loaded with superstar big men, and their size will help them. Magic is a big point guard who will tower above Chris Paul, while the interior tandem of Kareem and Shaq will outscore Griffin and Brand.

In Kobe Bryant and LeBron James, the Lakers feature probably the two most dominating offensive players since Michael Jordan. The Clippers will struggle to keep up with the pair because of the athleticism and big men they have.

Clippers Team Advantages

Because they have four players who can span the floor while going 5-out, the Clippers have excellent shooting. Blake Griffin may not be as good as Paul, Leonard, or George when it comes to shooting, but he can still stretch the floor effectively enough to keep Kareem out of the paint.

Because CP3 and his shooters will be a danger from downtown on the break, the Clippers will be able to run as well as the Lakers. Furthermore, the team has enough skill that the Lakers will have to be at their best to win the series. The issue is if the Clippers can win this game.

Who Will Win A Best-of-Seven Series?

Because Kobe Bryant and LeBron James go off on the floor, Game 1 belongs to the Los Angeles Lakers. Bryant scores 31 points on 47 percent shooting, while James scores a triple-double with 30 points, rebounds, and assists. The duo comes out swinging in the first half, scoring a combined 40 points and giving the Lakers a 66-54 advantage. The Clippers must take the punch in the mouth to open the series in the second half, which is more of the same.

In Game 2, the Clippers bounce back with a commanding 110-90 victory. The shooting is at its best throughout the game, as the Lakers struggle to recover their 58-47 halftime deficit. Blake Griffin is also on fire, making 3-4 three-pointers in the first half. The Lakers rally in the third quarter owing to Magic Johnson’s brilliance, but the Clippers keep shooting hot en way to 15 three-pointers and a decisive victory.

In Game 3, the Lakers come out and totally shut off the shooters. Only Leonard scores more than 25 points for his team, while Leonard, George, and Paul combine for 3-18 from three. The Lakers’ big men, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Shaquille O’Neal, combine for 60 points and 25 rebounds on the floor. The game ended 103-94 with the Lakers playing slowly with Magic and James manipulating the strings.

Game 4 is much of the same, but for a magnificent effort by Shaquille O’Neal. The imposing center scores 37 points on 52 percent shooting, including 9-15 free throws. Even Blake Griffin’s assistance wouldn’t be enough to keep Elton Brand at bay. Shaq is just more powerful and domineering, as seen by his role in the Lakers’ 111-103 triumph.

Game 5 is interesting because the Clippers are battling for a chance to keep the series alive at 3-2, while the Lakers want to wrap it up in five games. Kobe Bryant earns the first-half MVP, scoring 20 points while shooting 3-4 from three. The Clippers, on the other hand, are led by Chris Paul (10 points, 9 assists) and Paul George (15 points). The second half is tied because Shaq and Leonard score the same amount in the third and fourth quarters. The game goes to overtime after Kobe Bryant fails to make the game-winning shot at the conclusion of the fourth quarter.

In overtime, Chris Paul puts on a display, scoring the opening six points. But Shaq is too strong down low, scoring 8 points in the fourth with assists from his guards and a game-saving block from Kareem. The Lakers win the series 4-1, and Shaq wins Finals MVP by controlling the paint and the series offensively.

Final Score: 4-1 for the All-Time Lakers over the All-Time Clippers.

Shaquille O’Neal, Finals MVP
